Intelect Medical is developing proprietary deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapies and technology to improve the outcome for patients with:

• - Upper extremity hemiparesis as a result of Stroke and
• - Chronic cognitive disability due to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

We have been working with world-renowned scientists and clinicians to develop and commercialize these promising new therapies.  Concurrently, development is underway on a novel DBS system that is envisioned to provide significant improvements in stimulation delivery and programming optimization.

Intelect Medical was founded in April 2005 through the support of the Cleveland Clinic and the intellectual property developed at its Center for Neurological Restoration.  Shortly thereafter, exclusive license to key patents related to DBS therapy for TBI was also secured from Weill-Cornell Medical College’s Laboratory for Cognitive Neuromodulation.  Commercialization efforts, including pre-clinical research, clinical feasibility trials, and system development have progressed considerably.

Our company mission is to restore a better way of life for brain injury patients.  We are focused on providing therapeutic solutions for patients with brain injury as a result of ischemic stroke and TBI.  Health care providers and patients suffering from disabilities associated with these brain injuries have very few therapeutic options available.  We hope to provide a new therapy that offers hope for both improving and accelerating recovery.
