Intelect Medical is focused on advancing deep brain stimulation (DBS) therapy for improving the recovery of chronic Stroke and Traumatic Brain injury (TBI) patients.  The goal of these innovative therapies is to provide neurorehabilition specialists with additional treatment options to improve and accelerate recovery for Stroke and TBI patients.  Intelect Medical’s proprietary therapies for brain injury patients are covered by our therapy brand name - Enspire™ DBS Therapy.  A clinical feasibility trial is underway for the TBI application using previously, FDA-approved DBS systems.  We hope to begin the Stroke feasibility trial in the first half of 2008.  The intent of these initial studies is to demonstrate the safety and potential efficacy of the therapy, so that a much larger, multi-site, pivotal clinical trial can be undertaken to provide adequate safety and efficacy data to the FDA for eventual commercial approval.

Concurrently, Intelect Medical’s engineering team is developing a unique DBS system to address both the special characteristics of our deep brain target sites and improve the efficiency and efficacy of the current generation of DBS devices through:

• - The use of new stimulation paradigms
• - Software that enables more rapid optimization of stimulation parameters
• - Increased specificity of brain tissue activation and a reduction in side effects.
